There are still a few more days for you to enjoy plays at Sarajevo theaters during the 58th edition of the International Theater Festival MESS, which started on September 29 and will run until October 6.
The ORION Astronomical Society will be offering a varied program at its premises (Save Skarića 2) on Thursday, October 4 and Friday, October 5, as it marks World Space Week.

Arts lovers can expect a rich weekend in Sarajevo, and at the National Gallery of BiH you can view Selma Đulizarević Karanović's exhibit, Thorn Rose Garden: Suite, (until October 11) and Ana Crespo and Meliha Teparić’s Beyond the Shape (October 4-18); and at the School of Fine Arts there will be an exhibit of works by professors who teach at this institution (October 5-18).
You can attend the theater performance, Welcome, which will be held as part of the MESS festival and looks at our intimate relations with refugees, at Otoka Olympic Swimming Pool (October 5).
The week ends with dancing at Silver & Smoke, where Swiss DJ Laolu will be performing on Friday. His techno and house sets guarantee a terrific atmosphere.
Over the dynamic weekend of October 6 you can keep on dancing at Grbavica Sports Hall during the Just Dance Fest, which will see performances by modern dancers and dance troupes from BiH and Croatia.
For sports fans, we recommend the match between FK Željezničar and FK Čelik, which will be played that day at Grbavica Stadium.
For opera lovers, the icing on the cake will be the live HD streaming of the famous Aida by Giuseppe Verdi, as performed by the New York Metropolitan Opera. This event will take place at Kamerni Theater 55 on Saturday, October 6.
If you’d like to spend Saturday night listening to some old city tunes, we recommend the concert by the Serbian band, Legende. They will be performing at Pivnica HS, which is part of Sarajevo Brewery, the oldest industrial plant in BiH and the only brewery to remain in continuous operation during the time of two great empires – the Ottoman and the Austro-Hungarian.

Sunday is the perfect day to visit museums, so we recommend the Historical Museum of BiH for those who love contemporary art. In addition to its rich collection on the history of BiH, the museum is embellished by the work, A Place of Multi-religious and Temporal Meditation, by the great Italian artist, Michelangelo Pistoletto.
This work is from the collection of the Ars Aevi Museum of Contemporary Art, which is putting some of its valuable pieces on display at other cultural institutions around Sarajevo, as part of its World Art in Sarajevo project.

The opening of David Verberckt’s exhibit, Rohingya, is set for Monday, October 8 at the Novi Grad Municipality Gallery. The exhibit depicts the suffering of the Rohingya people, so if you are a fan of socially engaged art, you can visit the exhibit until October 19.
You can spend this evening listening to jazz performed by the young Sarajevo musician, Nikolina Vujić, who will be playing with her quartet at Jazzbina.
Tuesday, October 9 is a theater-filled day, and we highlight the play, Three Sisters, by Sarajevo director Pjer Žalica at Kamerni Teatar 55; and that evening, those who are fond of opera can enjoy La Traviata at the National Theater.

Be sure to look for a respite from the hectic week, as well as a gorgeous view of the city lights and some great music, on Wednesday, October 10 at SOne Sky Lounge (located on the roof of Courtyard by Marriott), where the wonderful Sarajevo singer, Lana Hamza, will be performing.
An ideal choice for this same evening is a performance by Nermin Alukić Čerkez, the legendary interpreter and songwriter, who will delight the audience at YU Caffe with an emotional performance of pieces from his ethno, sevdah and pop-rock repertoire.
