OMAR Art Studio

Omar learned the basics of the metalworker trade from Hajji Nasir Jabučar on Kazandžiluk Street, and then he built upon that knowledge through his collaboration with other masters of the craft and by trying out different traditional and modern methods of engraving, forging and metal plating, as well as by learning how to use chemicals when working with metals.

Now in his own studio, Omar creates traditional items from metal, such as old metal dishware (ibrici, džezve, meterizi…), wall decorations (engravings, calligraphy…); everyday items (inscriptions, signs, lamps…), lovely pieces of unusual jewelry (rings, necklaces, earrings…), and even items that are inspired by the lore of knights and the medieval Bosnian Kingdom (swords, axes, shields, knights’ attire…).

Omar Art Studio is located in Vratnik, on Višegradska Kapija 3, and visitors must phone in advance (061/061-698) to arrange for an appointment. Omar occasionally organizes workshops that are aimed at those who would like to learn more about how certain items are produced from metal.
