Where to eat in Sarajevo
Bosnian food reflects a mix of Oriental, Mediterranean and Central European culinary traditions and most meals make use of meat and vegetables.
National specialties
Traditional Bosnian “fast food” restaurants are aščinicas or cafeteria-style eateries; buregdžinicas, which serve pita (stuffed phyllo dough) and ćevabdžinicas, where you can enjoy ćevapčići and other grilled items.
Most of these restaurants are located in Baščaršija and we recommend that you try some local dishes at Hadžibajrić F. Namika, ASDŽ or Staklo Aščinicas; try some pita at ASDŽ Buregdžinica and ćevapčići at Mrkva, Petica, Kurto and Kastel Ćevabdžinicas.
You can order some excellent chicken ćevapčići and a fresh salad at Fan Ferhatović. The restaurants, Aeroplan, Dveri, Sedef, Imidž-T, , and Avlija, are sure to impress with their fine local specialties and lovely, authentic ambient.
