Sarajevo from the Heights
1. "THE MILDEWY SIDE" AND TREBEVIć
The neighborhoods on the slopes of Trebević are in the shade most of the day, and it's for this reason that Sarajevans call this "the mildewy side of town." You can reach the slopes and peak of Trebević on foot, by car or by cable car. The southern side of this mountain "hugs" the city center, and there are tons of spots on Trebević that offer enchanting views: Vidikovac, the Observatory (Bistrik Tower), Brus, Sunnyland, Sofa Peak, as well as the large terrace of the Roof Gardens complex.
2. ŽUTA TABIJA, BIJELA TABIJA & ZMAJEVAC
Žuta Tabija and Bijela Tabija were fortifications for the old town of Vratnik and offer fascinating views of Sarajevo. Žuta Tabija (Yellow Fortress) is just a ten-minute walk from Baščaršija, and Bijela Tabija (White Fortress) and the nearby restaurant of the same name offer lovely views of the Sarajevo Valley. You can walk through the mahalas until you come to Zmajevac, and then enjoy a relaxing view over lunch, drinks or narghila at the cafe-restaurant Vidikovac-Zmajevac.
3. SONE SKY LOUNGE AND CITY VIEW DELUXE
SOne Sky Lounge is located on the rooftop terrace of Courtyard by Marriott Hotel, and the bar, which offers a view of Skenderija and the center of Sarajevo, can be reached via the exterior panoramic elevator. In the city center, on the main pedestrian street Ferhadija, within the Hecco Deluxe hotel (the former JAT skyscraper), you'll find café City View Deluxe, where you can enjoy a stunning panoramic view in all four directions.
4. AVAZ TWIST TOWER AND CAFFE 35
Avaz Twist Tower is next to the Sarajevo railway station, and this skyscraper is home to Caffe 35 (on the 35th floor), which has a spectacular view of town. The platform at the top has tower viewers that will help you peer into hidden corners, and you can reach this vantage point via the panoramic elevator – perfect for taking in the surroundings.
