Novi Hram stopped functioning as a place of worship in 1930 when Sarajevo's largest synagogue, the Temple (now BKC), was opened. Right before the last war (1992-1995) the Hram was turned into an art gallery.
The gallery's exhibit space takes up approximately 100m2 and operates as part of the Jewish cultural-educational and humanitarian organization, La Benevolencija.
