They’ve installed a gate at a place that used to be free and started charging an entrance fee. There’s nothing worth paying for. However, people used to drink alcohol there quite often, so perhaps this has helped put a stop to that. There’s nothing special to see, and it’s not worth going all that way just for the city view.
It’s not worth 8 marks. Without the excursion or anything interesting to see, there’s just a view and an empty wall
It's worth climbing here just for the view. Sarajevo, nestled in a valley between the mountains, looks magnificent from here—especially in good weather. However, the condition of the grounds themselves is questionable. Such a beautiful historical site clearly deserves better care. The "I Love Sarajevo" photo zone looks shabby, with the letter "I" literally begging for a well-deserved retirement. The Bosnia and Herzegovina flag has been practically torn to shreds, and the fences are unkempt in places. Against the backdrop of the magnificent panorama, it's especially noticeable how hastily everything around is constructed or maintained. The place is wonderful, the view is stunning—that's why I want the grounds to be true to what nature and history have given here.
It is believed that the White Fortress, which overlooks the eastern entrance to the Sarajevo Valley, takes its name from the white rocks that were used in its construction.
Archeological research indicates that the oldest parts of the fortress were built during the Middle Ages, at the end of the 14th or beginning of the 15th century, and that other sections were added during the Ottoman period and then later during the Austro-Hungarian period.
The White Fortress is a National Monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina and, given the incredible view, it is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Sarajevo.
You may enter the fortified structure every day from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., for a flat rate of 5KM.
