We wanted to have lunch somewhere outside the hustle and bustle of Baščaršija and accidentally chose this restaurant and we didn't regret it, I don't know what I would praise more, the hospitality of the hosts or the food itself.... in general, if we return to Sarajevo, this restaurant will definitely be on our itinerary....
Unfortunately, our experience at the Bentbaša restaurant was extremely bad and what should have been one of the most beautiful days of our lives turned into a huge disappointment. During the wedding, almost every few minutes, the waiter came to warn us about the music, even though the music was not too loud. On the contrary, the music was turned down as much as possible several times, but even that was not enough. After 7 pm, we were not even allowed to continue with the music, which is completely unacceptable for a wedding celebration and something that we felt should have been clearly agreed upon before the event. The worst thing of all was that such constant warnings completely ruined the atmosphere. Instead of the newlyweds and guests relaxing, dancing and enjoying their day, we were constantly wondering if someone would come to warn us again. Such pressure is really unnecessary at a wedding. We are especially sorry that we have since seen numerous posts and reels from the same venue in which other weddings and celebrations are portrayed in a completely different light – the music is loud, the guests are jumping, singing, the atmosphere is noisy and everyone is clearly enjoying themselves. That makes it even harder for us to understand why we were denied what we expected from our own wedding celebration. We understand that the restaurant has rules and restrictions and we have no problem respecting the rules, but we believe that the way it was imposed on us is completely inappropriate for an event like this. Everything should have been clearly communicated and agreed upon before the wedding, and not for the newlyweds and guests to be constantly warned during the celebration itself. Unfortunately, instead of remembering our day for the beautiful atmosphere and carefree socializing, we will remember it for the nervousness, warnings and the feeling that we have to pay attention to every moment. And that is something that no young couple should experience at their own wedding. We are sincerely disappointed and would not recommend the Bentbaša restaurant for a wedding if you want a carefree celebration and an atmosphere in which you will truly feel like guests on your own most important day.
We wanted to dine somewhere a little away from the hustle and bustle of Sarajevo's Old Town, rather than in a touristy restaurant, so we visited Restaurant Nova Bentbaša. It's within walking distance from Baščaršija, but the atmosphere is quite different from the heart of the Old Town; you can enjoy a meal in a calm setting along the Miljacka River. The restaurant serves Bosnian cuisine, as well as meat dishes and international cuisine. When we visited, the prices seemed cheaper than restaurants in the tourist area, yet the food was delicious. Considering the price and the quality of the food, we were very satisfied and glad we walked a little further from the city center. What we particularly liked was the environment where you can dine while overlooking the river. The terrace seating is right by the Miljacka River, allowing us to enjoy our meal slowly while watching the flow of the water and the surrounding scenery. Unlike the crowded areas of the Old Town, it felt open and relaxed, perfect for conversation. It's not extremely far from Sarajevo's main tourist attractions; you can reach it with just a short walk from Baščaršija. For those looking for delicious food at a relatively affordable price, away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist area, this is an excellent choice. I was completely satisfied with everything: the food, the price, the view, and the atmosphere. I especially recommend the seats overlooking the river on a sunny day. It's one of the most memorable restaurants I visited in Sarajevo, and I can confidently recommend it. If I have the opportunity to return to Sarajevo, I would definitely like to visit again.
