Lovely clean guesthouse, close to old city and very friendly staff
The place is clean and simply furnished, and the two rooms we booked together are cramped and the lighting is a harsh yellow. It's suitable for someone who just wants a place to sleep and isn't concerned with luxury. There's no view; one side overlooks houses and greenery, and the other overlooks the Algerian embassy. Both rooms have air conditioning, heating, a kettle, complimentary tea and coffee, and a clean refrigerator with good cooling. Shampoo, body wash, and a light shower gel are provided. Our room didn't have a kitchen, which wasn't clear on the booking website. It's close to the old market in Shagarjia, about an 8-minute walk, and another market with some brand-name and European-style shops, about a 20-minute walk away. Services: The parking is narrower than it appears in the photos; enter carefully. If you park at night, the owner usually parks her car, and you can't get yours out because there's usually no activity at night. It's difficult to find parking outside of hers in the neighborhood. The laundry service costs 10 euros per wash. I gave her a basket of black clothes, thinking it was for one wash, but she did two washes for 20 euros (80 riyals). She washed them, folded them, and left them by the room. I don't think there's a room cleaning service, or maybe she didn't mention it. Our room is on the third floor. There's no elevator, just stairs, which isn't suitable for someone with difficulty climbing stairs. The landlady's name is Sina. The first day she was strict about parking and told us not to bring the car out at night. She went up to our room and showed us a note saying we should leave the room as we found it. She took me to the bathroom and said the shower was inside the shower enclosure, and no one should shower in the middle of the bathroom. She also told us not to use the kettle for cooking, and so on. Then she gave us two keys: one for the main door, which we had to lock when we entered, and one for the apartment door. My apartment is number 7 on the third floor, so I had to hold the door properly and lock it for it to close. Overall, the place is safe.
