Aščinica ASDŽ
One of Sarajevo's trademarks is certainly its traditional Bosnian cuisine, and a large selection of tasty local specialties can be found at Aščinica ASDŽ, in the heart of Baščaršija, on Ćurčiluk Mali 3.
Aščinica ASDŽ first opened in 1995 and since then it has stuck to a simple principle that has made it a favored traditional restaurant: all of the food is prepared according to original recipes, using only the finest local ingredients and without any additional artificial ingredients.
Sogan dolma, papaz ćevap, Bosanski lonac, all types of pita (burek) and soups are just some of the foods ASDŽ has to offer. In order to ensure that the Bosnian dishes are presented to visitors in the correct way, the food is served in sahans (traditional covered metal plates).
If you’d like to try some famous Bosnian sweets, you can choose from among kadaif, baklava, tufahija… and we definitely recommend that you try some refreshing compote, made from local, hand-picked fruits.
You can visit Aščinica ASDŽ every day from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and experience first-hand why this is one of the best places in Sarajevo to satisfy your hunger!

Absolutely amazing Bosnian food, probably the best in Sarajevo. Excellently priced, and with wonderful service.
We dropped in for a lunch to try some cooked bosnian dishes, not only cevapi and burek. The place looks a little bit like an office cafeteria, however it is clean and organized. You choose what you want directly from the counter, you then go to the table and the waiter brings the food to you. No objections against that, the system obviously works well and the waiter was quick amd friendly. Now to the food - it was good, but not exceptional. It reminded me of a food I used to eat in my school cafeteria. Since this is basically a cafeteria, I would take that in mind and give 5 stars, however, combined with two flaws I am going to mention below, I only give 4 stars. Flaw number one was the temperature of the food - it was not cold, but it was certainly not hot either. Since we were sitting outside on a not so hot day in the middle in September, it then became cold quite quickly. The second problem was the selection of the food - when we arrived, they already ran out of many items so we could not try the things we wanted the most. I understand this might happen, however they ran out of several dishes ( e.g. klepe, tufahije... ) and we did not arrive that late ( around 13:30 ) so, considering it's in the city center and many people go there, I think they should have been better prepared. 4 stars then, however if you want to try something else than burek or cevapi, it's not a bad option.
