August Braun Brasserie
There is an interesting story behind this establishment because it is named after August Braun, an Austrian who owned a brick companies in Sarajevo during the period of Austro-Hungarian rule. He also had a grand palace built for his wife Marija, not far from where the brasserie now stands, and this part of Sarajevo is now called Marijin Dvor (Marija’s Palace). The palace is a protected national monument of BiH and bricks marked with the initials “AB” were used in the construction of many buildings erected here in the capital of BiH. If you decide to visit August Braun Brasserie, you will have an opportunity to learn more about this interesting story, which is an important part of Sarajevo history. You can also enjoy the interior, which reflects all of the thought that was put into selecting the decorative themes.
The menu includes international specialties, so whether you choose to make a short break with some finger food, a hearty breakfast, lunch or dinner, the kind staff will help you select the best items.
While it is located right in the center of Sarajevo, not far from Skenderija Bridge and Sarajevo City Center, the restaurant is not on a main road, so it is rather easy to miss, but once you have visited, it is sure to become a top spot on your culinary map.
