This bridge is a beautiful masterpiece left by our ancestors in Sarajevo. It gets its name from the Byzantine-era motifs on it. The area around it is a picnic spot with nice seating and tables. Unfortunately, however, there is litter and it's not clean. It's closed to car traffic.
A truly beautiful and special place! 😍 The Roman bridge near Sarajevo is simply breathtaking and has a very special atmosphere. You immediately sense that this place is steeped in history, and that's precisely what makes a visit so interesting. The bridge itself is truly beautiful, and the surrounding area is incredibly peaceful and pleasant. I especially appreciated being able to unwind and enjoy nature here. It's not as hectic as some other tourist spots, and that's exactly what I loved about it. If you're in Sarajevo, it's definitely worth stopping by. The combination of history, nature, and this ancient architecture is truly unique. You can take beautiful photos, stroll around, and simply soak up the atmosphere. For me, it's definitely one of the places you should see around Sarajevo. ❤️🇧🇦 I would absolutely come back and highly recommend a visit.
Pretpostavlja se da je most na tom mjestu postojao još u rimsko doba, a u današnjoj formi izgrađen je za osmanske vladavine. Naziv Rimski most duguje činjenici da je u njega ugrađena rimska spolija, kamena ploča na čijoj površini se nalazi reljef nagog ljudskog tijela.
Prvi put se pominje u zapisu mletačkog poslanika Catarino-a Zeno-a, koji je 1550. godine prošao kroz Sarajevo i napisao da je: „rijeka Bosna, koja izvire ispod gore kojoj se ne zna ime odmah velika, a preko nje vodi kameni most sa sedam lukova, s kojega se vidi kako iz gore rijeka ključa”.
Ne zna se tačno kome pripadaju zasluge za izgradnju mosta, a pretpostavlja se da su to mogli biti veliki vezir Rustem-paša Hrvat, Semiz Ali-paša ili Gazi Ali-paša.
Prirodno-graditeljska cjelina Most u Plandištu (Rimski most, Most preko rijeke Bosne u Plandištu) je 2005. proglašena nacionalnim spomenikom Bosne i Hercegovine.
