Prvobitno je kuća pripadala uglednoj sarajevskoj porodici Glođo, čiji je posljednji muški član, zbog neposlušnosti osmanskim vlastima, prognan u ignanstvo, pa je kuća ženidbenim vezama prenesena u vlasništvo porodice Svrzo.
Šezdesetih godina 20. stoljeća Svrze su kuću prodale Muzeju grada Sarajeva, pa je danas ovaj objekat jedan od depandansa Muzeja Sarajeva.
U Svrzinoj kući se u ljetnom periodu osim stalne muzejske postavke često mogu pogledati izložbe, koncerti i predstave.
