The gallery has interesting works that are worth seeing. The problem is that the museum's perspective on women is quite sexist. As an art historian and curator, I can say that one of the main maxims is that museums must be impartial in how they talk about artists, and they diminish and demonize the person Jeanne was, making comments like "unfortunately she altered the collection" when they don't know what her relationship with the painter was like. They comment on her infidelities, say she has a personality prone to betrayal and depression, but at no point do they make the same derogatory comments about Hodler. It's an exhibition with a misogynistic view, poor curation, and bad in-room texts. In addition, even in the permanent exhibition, the arrangement of the works in relation to spaces inaccessible to the public doesn't make sense.
Nice museum. Enjoyed both the permanent collection and the special exhibition. You can either buy tickets online or pay cash at the door.
Please leave some donations or get some souvenirs before you leave the museum. The artworks are not in very good condition. An temporary exhibition on 1st floor is very interesting but sadly to know tha the artist passed away 3 days before the opening. I wish the museum could some day rise from the ruins as the city itself.
